The Trish Smash

What a week it has been so far.

Friday night, we got to see Mike, who we don't see near enough of. We went to see Shrek 2 - LOVE IT! It was better than the original! I needed laughs like that. See, I'm not an Antonio Banderas fan - I think he's pretty skanky and not at all attractive. So, imagine my surprise when his Puss in Boots character STOLE the movie! If you haven't seen it yet, you need to. No kids needed.

Saturday, we took the kids to a classmate's birthday party. Michael was very well behaved - except for a viscious (or is that viscous?) poop accident in a total stranger's house. Matthew, who has no fear, kept trying to enter the pool at the deep end, running around the pool, and being a total nutjob. We ended up leaving before the gifts were opened just to give Scott a break from watching Matthew. :)

On Sunday, I flew to Austin in preparation for a three day meeting for work. I spent the day with some good friends of ours who moved to Austin a couple of years ago from Dallas. We took their son, Sam, to the pool at thier club and I got massively sunburned, but only on my arms past my short-sleeved shirt and on the tops of my thighs. It's proven to be uncomfortable and itchy :) We went hiking around a new development in their neighborhood in the Austin hills before dinner and had YUMMY fish tacos that Kent grilled.

Fast forward to Monday (I'm skipping the oh-so-exciting meeting part of the trip) where I went out with absolute_lethe, her hubby and adorable 'mini-hubby'. We had great Thai food, something new to me (Pearl drinks), and watched their son play in the park while we talked - until 2.0
started letting mommy know (s)he needed to use all of her energy for growing fingers and stuff! I really enjoyed seeing Lethe again, meeting the family, and hanging out - oh yeah, and meeting their friend, Fred.

Tonight, I'm taking it easy. I was going to do dinner with Kent and Meg again, but seems their little boy is sick, so I had the evening to myself. I went to eat at the Iron Cactus, had several margaritas *YUMMY* and am now vegging watching some cheesy WB show trying to find America's worst singer. My opinion is that they have a good sampling of them there. I'm planning on putting on my suit and heading to the jacuzzi as soon as it is over. Oh - and I went shopping earlier at the Arboretum shops, bought some cool jeans and a shirt at the Gap, got some yoga pants and a shirt elsewhere, and still came in well under $100!

I've got pics from throughout the week, that I'll post upon my return on Thursday. OFF TO GET WET! :)

hokay lemme gitthis straight .. the only thing you did during The Big Visit To Austin which we recommended (prior 2 your trip) was going Shopping @ The Arboretum?!?! augh! i awoke from a nice cheerleader-induced dream to read that?!?!

The dream was cheerleader-induced???
GB, WhyFor do you have cheerleaders around?
Don't you know you can get questioned by
the police for things like that? :)

Yes, the only thing I did was shop at the
Arboretum, but I did eat at some pretty cool
places. Never did the tourist or party thing
on this trip. However, there are slight
possibilities of more time here, so I'm not
worried about missing out.

The park we played in and walked around a bit was Zilker park. It is actually a tourist place to visit.

There is just so much to do in Austin, and you had so little time.

It was an absolute blast seeing you again. Fred thought you were pretty, he said you looked like someone famous (he knows you are happily taken).

The strange pearl drinks are found here:

They are really yummy and can be mixed with flavoured teas or fruit smoothie like concoctions.

Re pearl drinks: there's a bubble tea shop in Plano called Fat Straws. It's on the northeast corner of Park and Midway between (if I remember correctly) an Indian buffet and Noodles Ave.

Heh, I saw that you'd been there a few posts later. Also semi-local to you are The Bubble Tea Cafe on Beltine and Josey in Carrollton and Infinitea at Coit and Campbell.

Yeah, there are several that are down a ways. Unfortunately, I am pretty far north. I'm up near 121 and Coit. However, they did open a Coffee shop which also does Bubble Tea on McDermott near Alma. YUM!
