Katrina, go away!

I'm starting to get a little bit worried now. As many of you know, my husband is from New Orleans. We lived down there together for about five years before moving here to the Dallas area. The last time a major hurricane hit New Orleans was Camille in 1969. Camille was a category 4 hurricane. Katrina is now category 5, and although it could downgrade to category 4, that wouldn't make a ton of difference.

We called Scott's dad last night to see if he was leaving. He's not. He's moved out of New Orleans proper and lives in Slidell now, but still gets flooded every time it rains hard. We have NO clue about Scott's brother, who last time we knew lived within New Orleans limits.

We have lots of friends and family in the area. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. No matter how Katrina ends up hitting, it is potentially going to have major impact on New Orleans - at the very least in the loss of historical buildings and land, at the worst with major loss of life.

I'm very glad we don't live there anymore. I hated hurricane season.

My mum is in Milton, FL, just on the edge of the Hurricane warning. She just told me abt what to expect in New Orleans and Biloxi. I hope everyone will stay safe and... well, I am hoping there won't be as much damage as predicted. I always wanted to visit New Orleans again.

Everyone there is in our prayers. ***HUG***

One of my cousins lives in Gretna, which is a suburb of Nawlins. I ain't spoken at him in years (we ain't close), so I've no clue if he Gots Enuf Smarts to Get The Heck Out Of Dodge. I recall two of his younguns (about my age) live in Arlington, but I haven't heard from them in years .. so, maybe Cousin Roy's Comin' To Town!?

I hope your family has gotten someplace safe. I've been watching the coverage all day and I'm scared. If anybody needs a place to camp out for a few days, we have plenty of room and will gladly open our doors to them. Atlanta should be spared all but some of the rain.

I'll keep your family in my prayers.
