Katrina, go away!

I'm starting to get a little bit worried now. As many of you know, my husband is from New Orleans. We lived down there together for about five years before moving here to the Dallas area. The last time a major hurricane hit New Orleans was Camille in 1969. Camille was a category 4 hurricane. Katrina is now category 5, and although it could downgrade to category 4, that wouldn't make a ton of difference.

We called Scott's dad last night to see if he was leaving. He's not. He's moved out of New Orleans proper and lives in Slidell now, but still gets flooded every time it rains hard. We have NO clue about Scott's brother, who last time we knew lived within New Orleans limits.

We have lots of friends and family in the area. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. No matter how Katrina ends up hitting, it is potentially going to have major impact on New Orleans - at the very least in the loss of historical buildings and land, at the worst with major loss of life.

I'm very glad we don't live there anymore. I hated hurricane season.
