Yesterday, we had gone to the pier to eat and feed the fish and ducks. The boys really enjoyed it and on the way back, we decided to stop and see how much the soon to close Ultimate Electronics had things marked off. Since it is next door to Toys R Us, I was going to take the kids to buy presents for Erick and Brian's party this weekend (today).

While in the parking lot, my brakes suddenly went out in my car. They just made this horrible loud grinding sound and barely responded. We got into a parking space and called my roadside assistance. I have a 6 year / 60,000 mile warranty on my van. My car has 30,000 miles on it and is just over 3 years old. I don't drive it very much at all, so it's surprising that the brakes went out that suddenly.

OH, but NO! Brakes are argued as 'normal wear and tear' when something goes wrong with them. Because of that, when they finish my car in a couple of hours, I have to pay well over $300 to get it back. ARGH! There goes any extra spending cash I had for next weekend.

We didn't get to go to the christening or birthday party because the car was in the shop. At least I got to talk to everyone last night and we'll set up something later for us all to get together.

This car has been so much trouble from the day we got it. I really need to trade it in. We're $6000 upside-down on it, so we'll try to keep it as long as we can before trade-in.
