Today I bit the bullet and called our CPA to talk about starting my own business. She gave me lots of great advice, and I think I'm going to go for it. The two things I really need to do are file for an assumed name (my DBA) and to get my state tax ID as a sole proprietor. The good thing is that this would allow me to write off all of my supplies, and also allow me to buy supplies without paying sales tax. I had already decided on a name, so I'm going to file the paperwork soon. She also told me to try to go back and document all of my purchases for 2004, so we can don't lose out on where I was building up an inventory. We're going to see what we can do with my credit card charges, since I no longer have itemized receipts. I didn't know I was going to make this a business when I bought all of this!

We'll see how things go. I never expect to be profitable (look at me - reaching for the stars! Talk about self-confidence), but I at least want to offset the cost of my supplies somewhat. I just really found that I enjoy making jewelry.

Today was the first day back at work, so I mostly spent the day trying to catch up with email. I can't believe how two weeks worth of email, especially during a holiday, can be this bad. There is so much left to do after not being there, but I really enjoyed the time away. I also only have two classes left, and two CLEP exams, and then I GRADUATE WITH MY BUSINESS DEGREE!!!!! I start my next to the last class on Thursday. YAY ME!
