Kitchen destruction

They started working on the kitchen today.

Unfortunately, they didn't break the counter while taking it out. Crap.

For a few days, at the very LEAST, we'll have no real use of our kitchen.

Good thing? Insurance is covering anything over our usual food spending so we can eat more convenience food and eat out.

Seriously. Look at the damage under the cabinet! Grrrr.

What kinda work are ya'll having done?

When we had wood floors put in a couple of years ago, it was hell. Took forever and the workers left glue on everything! Sink handles, cabinets, the rug in the bathroom!

Mom did leave a drawing and such on the concrete though before they laid down the floor. 10 years from now, someone's gonna rip up these thousands of dollars wood floors and discover Bad-ass Fish by the back door.

We had a slow leak under the cabinet after our new dishwasher was put in. It went on for MONTHS and actually collapsed the bottom of the cabinet under the sink. That left the water to to under the cabinet, get into the carpet on the other side of the bar, rot the baseboard and leave lots of nasty mildew.

The insurance is covering all except our $500 deductible for repairs.

Oh my God! I bet you're going nuts with your kitchen in that state of destruction. How long do they think the repairs will take?

I wish I knew how long. It has started to suck already. This morning, cleaning up after breakfast, I realized I couldn't serve cereal anymore because I had nowhere to dump it if they didn't finish! I'm dumping milk and drinks in the bathroom sink, but can't do foods. I miss my garbage disposal.

At least the insurance company said they will pay for whatever we spend above and beyond normal spending because we have to use 'convenience' foods or eat out more often.
