Sleep, glorious sleep

You know you've gotten older when sleep outweighs a party. :)

Last night was supposed to be the 'big party' night. The kids went over to my mom's yesterday afternoon and I did a little bit of shopping.

(Oh, as an aside...Matthew loves to dig in the sand out back and says he is a 'paweentowogist'. Still having trouble with those l's. Heh. Anyway, he loves dinosaurs so much, he has decided that is what he's going to be. He digs in the sand saying he is looking for dinosaur bones. At Target last night, I found these plastic dinosaur fossil bones that are supposed to be buried! I'm going to wait until Scott gets home next month, but I want to bury them in the sand one night and let him find them the next day. I can't wait to see how surprised he is! I hope I remember to record it.)

Colleen was having a big St. Patrick's day party, which started at 7. I had on a green feather boa, a 'Kiss me, I'm Irish' ribbon, shamrock sunglasses and carried around a green pitcher to drink out of. I also had an overnight bag in the car, because I was going to STAY OUT ALL NIGHT!!!!

Ang and I were even planning to make it to TWO parties.

The night didn't really turn out that way.

I went over to Ang's house to give her some CDs I made for her flight to Hawaii. I had a glass of wine while there. At about 8, we went to the party. I made myself a 'pitcher' of margarita (only about half full in my pitcher), socialized, munched on some goodies, and had a great time. It started getting hot in the house, so I made myself a Diet Coke in the pitcher when I was done with the 'rita. Angela, Kim, Janet and I moved outside to some lounge chairs to talk and dance.

Here's where it went funny. I can't remember who, but someone said they can't believe I had a house that was completely empty, no kids, no husband, and I wasn't going to take advantage of that by sleeping and not getting woke up in the morning.

Ummm. Damn that sounded good!!! It worked its way into my brain, which didn't get any more alcohol. Ang and I decided not to hit the other party. Around midnight, I said Adios to everyone at the party and came home.

I took an Ambien and had the BEST 8 HOURS OF SLEEP EVER!!!!!

In a few hours, I'll have to pick up my kids from mom, but until then, I'm going to laze around the house, maybe nap again or watch a show. When did I decide that sleep and quiet trumped booze and parties?
