Bad luck

GAH!!!!!!

(@*&$()*@&*()&#$(*$!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday, about 5:30 or so, our power blinked out for just a minute. We were all upstairs, Michael playing a game, Matthew watching a movie and I was working on clearing out more of the rooms. I didn't think anything of the flicker of the power.

When we came downstairs a couple of hours later, I was already sweating. When I was STILL sweating 30 minutes later, I realized something was wrong. Looked at the thermostat and it was 90 down here!!!! In the past, we've occasionally had the valve get stuck and turning it off for a while, then back on, fixed it. No dice. Tried it twice.

I gave in about 8:30 and called a repairman, knowing I would have to pay $99 just for the visit. Well, we at least know now WHAT the problem is, we just can't fix it right now. The reversing valve is good and stuck, so if we turn on the system at all it is on HEAT. He manually pushed it back and forth, but it never stayed. It always returned to the default position of HEAT. This is a part that has to be ordered, and will cost more than $500.

No air for us for several days!!!! I have all of the downstairs windows open, ceiling fans on high, and two box fans pulling air from outside. Yes, it is Texas and cooler OUTSIDE than in right now. The thermostat says we are officially at 95 degrees inside.

Ugh.
