Surgery update

Mostly I am copying GS's update, because I have a major migraine and even the laptop is killing me.

I just got off the phone with Trish. She's okay, but there have been some complications.

Her surgery was 13 1/2 hours long. And then she lost blood flow to one of her breasts. They took her back into surgery from 7:00 p.m. until 3:30 a.m.

It appears that they still were not able to regain blood flow to the breast. They're going to wait 3 or 4 more days to see if things improve. The doctor says there's about a 10% chance that the blood flow will return.

Regardless of whether or not they can recover the blood flow, the doctor promises that she's going to emerge from this with perfect, perky boobs and a flat belly. They'll just have to go with Plan B for the reconstruction. So we can all continue to be jealous of her.

She's not in much pain because she's very heavily drugged.

Scott is going to bring her laptop to her tomorrow, and I teased her that her posts should be lots of fun thanks to all the drugs. I let her know how many of you have asked about her, and she asked that we all keep her in our thoughts. I assured her that she had no shortage of supporters and prayers and well wishers out here.

Please keep our friend in your thoughts and prayers. Things are really stressful for her and her family right now.

To give a bit more detail, I had some clots in the right breast after surgery. I was taken in for emergency surgery that night, into the next morning. The breast never recovered blood flow. They are waiting 2-3 more days and then I will go in for a short surgery to remove the tissue and put an expander in under tbe muscle. I will be in 1-2 days after that. I just hope to get home for Christmas. In 3-4 months, when I am healed up a bit more they will try to reconstruct the breast again using tissue from my back.

Back to resting now. My head is so much worse than the surgery sites right now.
