Sometimes...God smiles

Today was a good day. The first truly good day in a really long time.

This morning, Scott got up with the kids, so I got to sleep in until 8. Then I showered and took the kids to school for their last day before break. I grabbed some Burger King breakfast on the way back and watched the finale of the Apprentice. Since I hadn't done it in a really long time, I called up the nail salon and got a spa pedicure and manicure. I LOVE those massage chairs, with heat, and your feet in the hot swirling water. It's so relaxing!!!!

Then it was time for the boys' SECOND school Christmas party. They seemed to have a great time. I brought them home right after the party and we went grocery shopping. I actually kept it pretty healthy, because of all of the cookies and other sweets that have been going around our house - ground turkey for burgers, chicken to grill, Quakers popcorn treats, granola bars, things along that line.

The day turned out to be gorgeous outside! It was almost 70 and not a cloud in the sky. I called up Colleen (who only lives next door) and asked if they wanted to meet us at the park. While I was waiting for her to show up with her kids, I was watching Michael and Matthew run around the playground and I was swinging pretty high on the swings. It gives you that feeling of flying and you just throw back your head and enjoy life. After about 45 minutes at the park, we came home and read some books and ate turkey burgers.

Tonight - Scott and I are going to open a bottle of champagne, eat some pears and watch I, Robot. :)

OH! Last night was the boys' Christmas pageant, and I'll post some video and pictures later this weekend. They did great, except for one 'Oh my God!!!!' moment. Matthew was looking so sweet right up front in his angel costume. In the middle of their song, with all eyes on him and his few classmates, he proceeds to dig for gold in his nose and EAT IT!!!! OMG!!!! I was so embarrassed! One good thing came out of it - his dad zoomed in and got the whole thing on video, so we can embarrass him right back when he's a teenager :)

After the pageant, I went to our mothers of multiples meeting for the first time in months. It was a great time, as the December meetings always are. We have a Chinese gift exchange (anyone know the origin of calling it that? It doesn't make sense to me!). If you aren't familiar with that, it's when you draw numbers, and the first person gets to choose a gift to unwrap. The second person can either unwrap a new gift, or steal from the first person, who then has to choose a new gift. The evil comes out in people!!!! I thought I was going to be stuck with a candy dish, a pound of chocolates and roasted almonds. I wasn't looking forward to bringing MORE candy into the house after the kids had two cookie exchanges at school and we have like 40. Two people before the end, someone stole it from me and I ended up with the cutest set of candle holders. I also won two candles (Bird of Paradise and Candy Cane). Go me!
