My ass. I can't feel my frickin' ass.

In August, I went in to get a facet rhizotomy on my lower back, which is where they burn the nerves going to the facet joints in your spine. Since I have arthritis in those joints in my lower back, and had responded well to facet joint injections, they thought it would help with the arthritis pain. It did WONDERFULLY!

But - I still have disk degeneration, so while we got rid of my arthritis pain for anywhere from 3-18 months, I still had disk issues. This morning, I went in to get a lumbar epidural injection. This is steroid and anestetic medication injected into the epidural space of my spine to try to get rid of the pain from the disks. I was worried about the procedure, and it still remains to be seen whether it will help.

But I am numb from my mid-back down to my toes. *laugh* They made me go to the bathroom before leaving the surgery center and I realized I can't feel my ass. At all. What a weird feeling.

Anyway, now I'm off to lay around on the couch all day, watching TV and playing on the computer, taking wonderful pain killers and dreaming about how wonderful it would be to have NO back pain, even for a little while.

Medical advances are just wonderful!!!
