Scott's gone for the week, coming back Friday afternoon, and the house couldn't be cleaner. At least, the kitchen couldn't be cleaner. I got obsessive again today and did some cleaning. Yay me!

Nights alone are always so boring after the kids go to bed, but restful all the same. I will just sit around with heat on my back, work puzzles, watch a little TV, maybe listen to some music. One hour until the kids go to bed. :)

My mother and I have gotten along surprisingly well lately. She's moving into a senior community in two weeks, and we're both very excited. I think if she gets some friends and starts doing different activities, she'll be happier and healthier. We've had some good conversations lately, where usually she won't hold a meaningful conversation. All very observational, no processing of it. Tonight, she offered to buy us dinner, so we sat around eating chicken, spinach and tomato pizza. YUMMY! Next weekend is scheduled for me to spend my time helping her move, unpack in the new apartment, and clean up the old apartment.

THIS weekend, however, is just for fun, fun, fun! We're having a Super Bowl party (we are rooting for Pittsburgh because that is where Jax is from and she's bringing ALL kinds of Steelers stuff.) It looks like we'll have genebob, jillions, Jax, Colleen and Todd with their two kids, Brett and Angela with their two kids, and possibly Chuck and Nona. Woo Hoo! I just can't wait. I was depressed for so long, then had the surgery, so I haven't done much with our friends lately.

Ok, now only 45 minutes until bedtime. There is a piece of cherry pie calling out my name. I must answer.

But first - Happy Anniversary to georgiaskydiver. Love you. Mean it.

Dallas? When?

Not sure yet. It's all up to my grandfather and his doctors what happens.

When he dies, we will bring him home to Dallas to be buried next to his
mother. He was a member of the Baptist church there for more than 50 (damned
near 60!) years so I'm sure there will be a big Texas-sized whoop-de-doo.
I'll let you know.

I would really like to come see you and the guys when I'm there. And I'll
take you up on that drink!

P.S. I tried e-mailing you a couple times but it kept getting kicked back.

Scott has to turn off some software that keeps bouncing people's email to us. You can try emailing my work address - patricia dot howard at sun dot com

That pizza sure sounds good, as does the cherry pie. Yum, yum, yum. I was really looking forward to a cheese pizza at the AAC tonight (Stars game. They won 2-1). I was very late because there was yet another train accident downtown, so we had to sit and wait and then get a bus transfer from Pearl to the West End and then another from the West End to the AAC. I arrived with about 8:00 to go in the first. Stopped at the Pizza Hut on the third level for my cheese pizza, but oh no. They didn't have any made, and it was going to take 10 minutes (!). yeah right. boneheads. someone needs to teach them something about inventory control! Ended up with chicken strips. Bah. REALLY wanted that pizza!!

Brian & his kids may come to your Super Bowl party for a while.

Am happy that your mom is moving. Need any help? Will that remove my deadline for fixing my wall? :-)

Re: Yum!
I saw that on the news! The DART train ran into a tour bus. 2 people at least taken to the hospital. Don't know much more.

We would love to have Brian and his kids here! They are more than welcome. I'm sure his kids would love to see the lizards. :)

I don't THINK we'll need help moving mom, but I'll let you know. It depends on how many boxes are left after the movers take stuff. Sometime this week, I need to go pick up an antique curio cabinet she is giving me.

Not to quibble, but normally the trains aren't at fault (e.g. the train hitting the bus versus the bus pulling out in front of the train). Some gomer will just not be paying attention or will try to beat the train or run a red light (downtown). And downtown, the trains are constantly making a racket and not moving terribly quickly either, so it's not like they can sneak up on someone. It'd be nice if the gomers stayed away from the trains on game nights. :-)

Re: Yum!
And no, that doesn't remove your deadline on the wall. But I would be more than glad to offer my labor to helping you finish it. :)

Re: Yum!
Damn! Guess I better figure out what materials I'm gonna need and get to Lowe's then. I may very well need help with one part of it. Will let you know.
