Pumpkin time!

Pumpkin Carving with four-year-olds:

- You spend 2 hours researching patterns for the spider and bat they want
- You spend 30 minutes drawing out the patterns and poking holes as guides
- You spend 10 minutes cleaning up the crayon you used to mark the original pattern
- You cover the table in newspapers
- You cut large holes in the bottom of the pumpkins
- You get all of the cutting and scraping supplies together

* The four-year-olds spend two minutes trying to scrape things out of the pumpkin before declaring it gross, going to wash their hands, and sitting down to watch 'Every Scooby-Doo Ever Made' on TV

- You spend an hour scraping all of the junk out of the pumpkins
- You spend 30 minutes cutting the patterns out
- You pick out and clean pumpkin seeds, then set them out to dry for 2-3 hours
- You clean up the pumpkins, and then the table
- You set the pumpkins out to dry, before coating them with Vasaline (makes them last longer)

Either way - the pumpkins that 'Michael and Matthew made' look great. Tonight, when we get them outside with candles in them, I'll try to take some pictures of them lighted.
