Goodnight, Mr. Carson

I am so glad that I thought to record The Tonight Show tonight. Leno handled things well, and there were plenty of video clips from when Carson had the show. Then they had Ed McMahon there as a guest to talk about Johnny. It was a very sad show. I can remember as a kid sitting at night in my mom's room watching The Tonight Show. Johnny Carson was a very talented and witty person and part of our history.

Isn't it weird how the death of cultural icons can sometimes make you sad? I can remember being sad when Charles Schultz passed. It's a bizarre feeling.

I never watched Johnny Carson when he was hosting the Tonight Show, but have seen plenty of clips and articles and interviews etc. to feel like I lost someone important.

Charles Schultz was important, too. Peanuts were a daily staple for my soul.

I wish I had watched it! I heard Leno was all choked up. I would have been too. To me, the Tonight Show will always be Johnny's show. Oops. My age is showing . . .
