Productive two days

Tonight, I am sitting on the couch drinking the most YUMMY drink! I had some chocolate vodka, hazelnut coffee liqueur and milk, so I made a slightly different White Russian. Tastes AWESOME!!! You should know that when my husband actually drinks something I made (he's usually the bartender around here) that it's out of sight! Popped some popcorn, sprinkled zesty nacho on it, and I'm going to watch a little TV.

The past couple of days have been fairly productive. Here is just a sample of what I've done:

- Got mom COMPLETELY out of the old apartment, got it inspected and cleaned, and turned in everything so she is only in her new assisted living apartment.

- Sent off the paperwork to cash out her life insurance

- Got myself on as a signer on her bank account, got new checks with both our names and my address on them

- Took the roof off of the gazebo and started on a tarp cover for it that will hopefully hold up to our North Texas winds better than the thin crap that comes with it. It won't look quite as classy (being held on there by somewhat matching brown duct tape) but it has to be better than shredded cloth. Tomorrow, I'll have Scott help me put it back on so I can finish the edges.

- Got together three bags of clothes and shoes to donate to Goodwill, and two bags of trash.

- Reorganized our drawers and closets

- Cleaned the downstairs (counters, dishes, laundry, mopping, vacuuming, etc.)

- Played with water guns in the backyard with the boys

- Blew bubbles in the backyard with the boys

- SHOWERED (believe me when I say this is an ACCOMPLISHMENT!)

- Colored my hair

Now, I can't wait to go to the They Might Be Giants concert on Tuesday with oddharmonic and a couple of her friends. I've never been to the House of Blues here, and have always seen TMBG at the Gypsy Tea Room, which is sadly no longer an option.

BTW - I'll only be bringing a cane (leopard print, of course), but we can park in the handicap parking with my hangtag.

Back to my drink, popcorn, and TV.

Oh! I also got a copy of my absolute FAVORITE animated show of all times - The Animaniacs episode 'Les Animals', where they do versions of all of the Les Miserables songs. LOVE IT! Can't wait to watch it with the kids, who will have NO frame of reference.

Wow. wow. Wow.!!!!

Today the LG looked at me and asked when we could go see you. My heart about melted.

I was so ready to see him! I'll admit, I bought this HUGE stuffed animal that KIND of resembled the BDDD without the black snout to give to him while he was here. It's been just sitting here waiting on when you guys can reschedule. :)

As I was folding laundry today - which means ALL DAY - I was wondering what your plans are with regard to returning to work. (sorry for the legal speak. I couldn't think of any other way to say it). We should come out there before you have to go back.

His surgery is scheduled for March 26, so if we're going to come visit before summer, we need to reschedule soon. Unles you're going to be out for a long while, in which case we can wait.

BTW, I LOVE your new icon. Very purty.

RETURNING to work? *laugh* I had the surgery on Wednesday and was back on Monday. Actually, I had a concall on Friday, but I promptly fell asleep afterwards. I'm back at work but have plenty of vacation.

Yeah, ANY time is fine to come visit. March 15 is Scott's birthday and the boys are staying with my mom at her new place overnight so Scott and I can go to the annual St. Patrick's day party Colleen has. Other than that, we are WIDE open.

Hmmm. Then we'll have to figure something out. The BG has no exams and no school stuff for the next few weeks so he wants to make up for lost time with the LG. His spring break is from March 8 - 16. We're not going up to Ohio, so conceivably I could come out there without the LG - although that would break his heart.

We also have a friend throwing a party on the 15th, and my mom comes from March 20 - 23. Surgery is on the 26th, which knocks out the two following weeks.

Hmmmm. I'm not sure what to do. Wanna come see us?

OMG!!!! Do it! Come out here for St. Patty's!!! You can come to the party with us!!!

I would love to come see you guys, but with our 'situation' here, I have NO CASH. Zip. Nada. Gotta wait until hubby gets a J-O-B before I do any spending.

For once, it's not the time but the money.

You don't want a house guest out there for Mr. Trish's birthday. That just ain't right.

. . . unless I have some stripper come deliver a singing telegram or something . . . .

. . . or we take him for a skydive . . .

Aw, hell! We would love a house guest for his birthday. I would also totally have a stripper come give a singing telegram! *laugh*

As for skydiving...I SO doubt he would do that. There isn't enough alcohol in the WORLD. *laugh* Wow. What happens if you throw up while skydiving?

What happens if you throw up while skydiving?

Seeing as how you're moving forward at 120 mph, and all that dreck flies back into your faces, your tandem master will probably just cut you loose. You're on your own . . . with no parachute.

I knew there was a reason I would never step foot outside of a perfectly good airplane. :)

Although I would love to do one of those inside air 'skydiving' experiences. I didn't get to go last time I was in Vegas, and there isn't one here in Dallas. :(

We have to figure something out here. There has to be a date that works for both of us to visit one way or the other.

It's way way way past my bedtime. I'll go dream on it and we'll figure something out in the next few days.

Sleep tight. In my dreams, we lived closer and could see each other anytime we wanted. I privately wish Scott would find a job in the Atlanta area. :)

I asked Scott and he said two things:

- There isn't a tandem instructor who would want to jump out of a plane with a fat man attached to him

and

- I wouldn't mind her being here for my birthday weekend

P.S.
He had show & tell at school yesterday. He took the airport in a suitcase you gave him. It is his FAVORITE toy!!!

Today he brought it to me, along with two planes and very solemnly told me that those were the planes he was going to take when we went back to play with Michael & Matthew.

Wow! You have been productive! Go you! I...um? Did a few loads of laundry (it never ends here, especially cloth diapering the two kids)...knitted a little bit...did some yard work...and I can't quite remember what I did yesterday...LOL

Oh yeah! I finished a second sash for the orange halfway-felted hat I made! It's cool and I still need to take pictures. I started on knitting a bag with fabric strips. I'm not too sure I like it, because the edges fray and it ends up looking like eyelash yarn when it really isn't *laugh*

I can't imagine cloth diapering two kids! How do you do it? I'm sure you have lots of wool soakers. I didn't cloth diaper, but I really enjoyed making a soaker for misskerri

Cloth diapering the two is just like sposie diapering one except for you have to wash. That's really it. We used to cloth when we were out even, but we don't anymore...we use sposies for that.

And actually, we don't have a load of wool...the only wool pants Abby has is one pair I knit for her. LOL She does have a lot of fleece, though...

I'm not a big fan of knitting with fabric strips either...unless the strips are serged or hemmed, but then, why not just sew the bag, kwim?

I always go through the clearance bins at all of the craft stores. The cashiers tend to ask me 'Oh! What are you making?', but I don't work that way *laugh* When I see an interesting yarn on sale cheap, I grab several skeins of it.

I do that with project kits, also, which is how I ended up with the fabric strip purse kit. It was on sale for around $3, if I remember correctly, so I couldn't resist. Now, I know that I will never knit with fabric strips without the investment in supplies :)

Hmmm. I need to go through my closet because I think I bought a kit for 90% off that is stitching a felt stocking and then using that wool roving to make those fuzzy-looking embellishments on it somehow. It looks like it would be similar to punch embroidery, but fuzzy. Seemed interesting.

Is it needle felting? Needle felting is so much fun. :)

I think that is what it was called. Maybe that's what I will start on after the tote bag.

Man, I crave popcorn sometimes. I rarely make it here because Vogon hates the smell of microwave popcorn and we only intermittently have Black Jewell (a gourmet variety where the hull shatters upon popping, making it virtually hull-less) in the pantry because it just doesn't last long when I know it's there.

I pulled an all-nighter Thursday into Friday to finish a quilt for a class craft for the silent auction to be held at a school carnival next week. (It's the school Laurel went to part of last semester, but I signed up at the beginning of the year for the class craft and doing the part with the class was fun. Piecing quilt blocks, not so much, but that's because I have been spoiled by double-sided fusible interfacing.)

I'm stoked for the concert too! I haven't seen TMBG in Dallas yet and getting to see them with a bunch of friends is even more exciting! All the times I saw them in Denver were when I worked at the LoDo Music Festival and the time I saw them in Raleigh I went with a friend that was, um, less than thrilled to go. (I repaid him with tickets to Dream Theater.)

I have seen them I think three times here. The only concert that ties them up, although I haven't seen them in a LONG time, is the Violent Femmes.

Meeting at your place?
