Blah blah blah

Bored on the couch, but my head is the clearest it has been in a week. I feel like it's a long weekend. The extent of a medical leave hasn't really hit home yet. To give you an idea on how much my belly is swollen up, despite having multiple organs removed and spending five days on nothing but broth, jello, Sprite and water, I'm 2 pounds heavier than when I went in. I think that in the next few days, I'll see some swelling go down and feel more normal.

I've almost watched all of my TIVO programs, so I'll need to go through today and find new and interesting things to record.

Scott just went to pick up the kids, and make a grocery store run for the basics. Sometime later this afternoon, oddharmonic and vogonpoet are coming by with food. They have blown me away with their thoughtfulness and caring. They say they are bringing a cooler filled with dry ice and FIVE DAYS of breakfast, lunch and dinner. All planned and cooked by them, along with recipe cards in case we want to recreate any of it.

My friends are just amazing me. Coworkers who think of me during their own vacations. Friends who think of food and other items we might need. My husband doing things around the house and with the kids without asking. My sons offering to do things for me out of the blue. Cards and calls from my mothers of multiples group despite having been inactive all year. The boys' ex-nanny taking them to the movies this weekend to give Scott a break.

I've been tearing up off and on all day because you guys are so great. You have made me feel loved when I'm in a pretty big funk. Heck, I'm now menopausal and dealing with hot flashes you wouldn't BELIEVE, yet I can smile when I look around myself because I am surrounded by love.

Not that you asked...
But new shows that I'm DVR/Tivo-ing:

Dexter (Showtime)
Weeds (my 2nd season, Showtime)
Studio 60
Brothers and Sisters (what a cast! haven't watched what I've taped yet)
House (my 3rd season watching - but I LOVE!)
oh, and Facts of Life reruns, just for good measure.

tv_crack is an LJ community run by a friend of mine that posts weekly reviews of several of the new shows.

Re: Not that you asked...
I've been watching Weeds from the start and LOVE that show!!!! I was really excited about Dexter because I've read the books and thought they were great. So far, it has just been a recap of exactly what happened in the books, which is a disappointment. I'm hoping that is just to catch up the people who didn't read the books and it will get 'original' soon :)

FOL reruns? *sigh* I always wanted to be Blaire. :)

Re: Not that you asked...
I've watched Weeds from the beginning too - did you know there are only 4 more episodes this season?!? I heard that on a commercial the other day and was very upset by this!

I always add one or two old 80s sitcoms or shows to my DVR collection. Nice pick me ups when I just want to relax.

I haven't read the books that Dexter is based on, which I guess still makes the show enjoyable. I'm still trying to decide if I can tolerate the intensity of the violence though - not a show to watch before bed!

Just a gentle reminder. You get what you give. If you find yourself surrounded by love and thoughtfulness in a time of need, then you have lived your life (thus far) very well, indeed.

I am so relieved that you're healing well, and have your sense of humor about you, and just that - well, I'm just relieved. :-) Sending hugs and gentle caresses on your forehead.
