Now that's just nasty

I made some great beer bread last night, and had some leftover garlic dip, so I made garlic cheese bread. I ate three huge pieces.

Pop-tarts, wine, garlic bread. I can still taste the garlic, even after brushing my teeth. Eeeewwww!

Talked to Duggo for a while tonight. He was three sheets to the wind from tequilla shots. SO FUNNY! Would've paid money to see that. I have missed him so much all of these years, because he really was a good friend. We talk a lot about our families, me trying to work, Scott's travels, my boys starting kindergarten, his two kids, his life as a single dad, football, all sorts of things. I have a hard time picturing him as he is NOW, because he's always this red-headed nutjob that I loved hanging around with :) Sometimes we are blessed when old friends come back into our lives.

I had to laugh at him tonight, or rather at his son. While we were on the phone, his 8-year-old comes in from the pool. Doug told him to say hi to his Aunt Trish. The boy wondered how in the world he had an 'Aunt Trish' all of a sudden that he had never known about, heard about, whatever. Doug told him to quiet down and say hi because I was one of his oldest and dearest friends. I don't think his son comprehended how if he's not talked to me in the span of his life, I could be a dear friend *laugh*

Today was the Tae Kwon Do picnic. It was, to pull one of my old Southernisms, hotter than two rats fucking in a wool sock. The party didn't start until 4, but it was still so hot that we only stayed a couple of hours. There were hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches, lots of fixins, deserts, and plenty of cold drinks. The boys played in a bounce house and ran around throwing water balloons at one another. When we finally couldn't take the heat anymore, we headed home.

One of the nicest parts was when the owner of our dojo got up on one of the tables to tell us about a gift she got all of us. In class each night, the black belts will ask who we are, and we have to yell "I am a martial artist!". She found a bookmark with the following words, and gave us each one:

I am a Martial Artist.
I see through different eyes.
I see a bigger picture when others see grey skies.
Though many can't conceive it, I stand...facing the wind.
My bravery, not from fighting, but my strength from within.

I am a Martial Artist.
I'll walk the extra mile.
Not because I have to, but because it's worth my while.
I know that I am different, when I stand on a crowded street.
I know the fullness of winning, I've tasted the cup of defeat.

I am a Martial Artist.
They say I walk with ease.
Though trained for bodily harm, my intentions are for peace.
The world may come and go, but a different path I'll choose.
A path I will not stray from, no matter, win or lose.

Speaking of Scott's travels, I'm ramping myself up for another two-weeker. He leaves tomorrow, comes back late Friday night, then leaves Monday morning for another week.

Expect lots of posts, because I will be BORED in the evenings after the boys go to bed. I should hide my credit cards NOW. :)
